Our Artistic Director, Nicholas Daniel, one of the world’s most admired oboists, is joined by the distinguished pianist and composer, Huw Watkins.

thursday 15th october: Allie Daniel (voice) & Chris Eldred (piano)

Allie Daniel trained at Mountview, and currently teaches vocal technique at The Urdang Academy. She achieved West End success playing one of the Fates in the hit musical Hadestown, before taking on one of the lead roles, Hermes, for six weeks. Her performance earned her Best Performance by a Cover/Alternate in the 2026 Stalls to Stage Awards.

Musicals Daily commented previously: ‘I've seen Hadestown on Broadway several times, but Allie Daniel's performance as one of the Fates in the pro-shot completely blew me away.  Every time she came on stage, I couldn't take my eyes off her. Easily one of the very best Fates I've ever watched. She really needs to land a role where she's meant to be the focal point’

Allie records her own music under the name, Massive Daughter, with her first single Shame appearing at the end of August and the second, What Could have Been, being released just a couple of weeks ago.

If you were lucky enough to be there, you will remember that Allie’s performance of Britten’s Cabaret Songs at our festival ‘brought the house down’!

Chris Eldred is a versatile, London based pianist and musician. He has performed in many world-famous venues such as Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club, the 606, the Royal Albert Hall, the Bull’s Head, Pizza Express Jazz Club and Oliver’s Jazz and Piano Bar (Greenwich). Chris has been involved with projects with Django Bates, Mark Lockheart, John Dankworth and others, and has performed alongside leading musicians such as Jean Toussaint (Art Blakey), Malcolm Earle-Smith, Bobby Wellins (Stan Tracey) and many others. He held the piano chair with the National Youth Jazz Orchestra from 2008-2014, playing high profile performances such as the BBC Proms, broadcast on BBC radio and television and many of England’s finest jazz festivals and concert halls. He still plays regularly with NYJO’s small group counterpart, the NYJO Nonet.  Chris has previously played in Leicester with the outstanding 7-piece band set up by Pete Oxley to celebrate and honour the late 70s works of Joni Mitchell.

British clarinettist Mebrakh Haughton-Johnson joins pianist Viktor Erik Emanuel for a programme that moves between classical and jazz.

thursday 12th november: Keelan Carew (piano)

Pianist and broadcaster Keelan Carew balances the piano with a broad interest in classical music education. Born and raised in Medway, Kent, Keelan studied at the RNCM with Dr Stephen Savage.He made his concerto debut in 2018, performing Rachmaninoff’s Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini in Southampton.From 2021 to 2024, Keelan led outreach at the Yehudi Menuhin School. He is the Founding Artistic Director of the Rainham Piano Festival.While a student, Keelan competed on the BBC’s University Challenge. This led to presenting work with BBC Radio 3, including the series Sounds Connected, coverage of the BBC Proms, and the 2022 series Piano Odyssey with Keelan Carew.Throughout 2023, he regularly contributed to In Tune alongside Sean Rafferty and Katie Derham. Keelan is a regular guest on Radio 4’s Add to Playlist and has also appeared on This Classical Life.Keelan now divides his time between teaching, performing, broadcasting, presenting, and producing accessible concerts for young people across the UK.
