Katerina Nazerova (violin)

 

Born in Tasmania, Katerina began playing the violin at a very early age. She subsequently studied at the Royal College of Music in London and has gone on to have a successful career both as chamber musician and orchestral player.  In 2012 she won Australia’s most prestigious music competition, the ABC Symphony Australia Young Performers Awards. Subsequently she has gone on to make her debuts with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra performing the Brahms Violin Concerto as well as the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra.

As an active chamber musician Katerina has performed across Europe and Asia collaborating with such musicians as Roman Simovic, Sasha Zemstov, Olga Sitkovetsky, Andrew Marriner, Dan Zhu, Olga Kern, Peter Manning and Tim Hugh and Lyr Williams.

Katerina has led various orchestras and ensembles including the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, BBC Concert Orchestra, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, and the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra.

She is a prizewinner in various competitions including the 2015 Royal Over-Seas League Music Competition, the Postacchini International Violin Competition in Italy, and won the Royal College of Music Concerto Competition.
