The young Belgian violist Nathan Braude is rapidly emerging as one of the most promising viola players of his generation. Nathan has performed in many of the world's most prestigious concert venues including the Wigmore Hall in London, Théâtre de la Ville in Paris, Amsterdam Concertgebouw and the Palais des Beaux-Arts in Brussels. He has also appeared as a soloist with numerous orchestras including the Solistes Européens Luxembourg, the Brussels Philharmonic, Orkest der Lage Landen, Limburgs Symphonie Orkest in Maastricht and the Solistes d’Europe chamber orchestra with whom his playing was described by Midi Libre as ‘…virtuosic, expressive, vibrant and refined…’
Nathan’s festival appearances include the Ravinia Festival, “Les Musicales” in Colmar, the Giverny Festival and the Juventus Festival in Cambrai where he was nominated “Lauréat Juventus” in 2008. His chamber music collaborations include performances with Barry Douglas, Polina Leschenko, Ilya Gringolts, Miriam Fried, Priya Mitchell, Aleksander Sitkovetsky, Natalie Clein, Marc Coppey, David Cohen and Michel Lethiec.
Most recent highlights include Bartók's viola concerto, Paganini’s Gran Sonata per la viola and numerous performances of Berlioz’s Harold en Italie with the Limburgs Symphonie Orkest and the Sinfonia Concertante with the Orkest der Lage Landen, début recitals at the Théâtre de la Ville in Paris, the Palais des Beaux Arts in Brussels and numerous chamber music concerts at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam.
The 2010-2011 season includes performances of Berlioz's Harold en Italie with the Brussels Philharmonic under the baton of Maestro Michel Tabachnik at the Palais des Beaux-Arts in Brussels, chamber music concerts at the Progretto Martha Argerich Festival in Lugano and his début recording for the Fuga Libera label of the complete works for viola by the Belgian composer Joseph Jongen, to be released in May 2011.
Nathan Braude is a master of breathtaking contrasts, ranging from moments of extreme delicate sensitivity to others of powerful almost violent energy. The musical tension he creates in the slow movement of the concerto is electrifying... From this brilliant performance it is clear that he has the qualities of a world-class soloist."
